Prime Strategy is Prime Studio's advisory division, focused on the decisions that matter most.

ABOUT

First, define the brief.
Then, design the product.

Prime Strategy is our focused advisory division for product brands that need clearer decisions, stronger differentiation, and a better path to launch. We help you decide what to build, who it's for, and how it wins — before design begins.

We work with consumer product companies at all stages — from fast-growing startups to established brands navigating a strategic inflection point. Whether you're launching something new, repositioning something that isn't performing, or figuring out where your product line should go next, this is where that work happens. Prime Studio built its reputation working alongside brands like Bayer, Frida, Harry's, and Welly.

Prime Strategy brings the same rigor to the decisions that need to happen before those projects begin.

APPROACH

We keep strategy and design separate on purpose.

Most agencies mix them together — which means one always compromises the other. When strategy exists only to justify a design direction that's already been chosen, it isn't strategy. It's rationalization.

Many products fail before a designer ever touches them. Not because the design was wrong, but because the brief was. The market opportunity wasn't defined. The positioning was borrowed from a competitor. Nobody agreed on who the product was actually for. Good design can't rescue a bad brief — so we do the groundwork that makes a good brief inevitable.

We follow the insight, not the aesthetic. We deliver clear positioning and a well-reasoned brief to the right execution team — and sometimes that's Prime Studio, but not always. That's exactly why Prime Strategy operates as an independent division.

BUILT ON EXPERIENCE

Tested Across Categories

Since 1998, our design division, Prime Studio, has helped consumer product companies at every stage — from founders with a napkin sketch to global brands managing complex product portfolios. That history is what Prime Strategy is built on.

Some of the brands we're most proud of, we met at the very beginning. Harry's came to us as a founding team with a vision for a better shave — they're now valued at $1.7 billion. Welly was just an idea for a more joyful approach to first aid — Unilever acquired them less than two years after launch. Field Company wanted to reimagine cast iron cookware for a new generation and built one of the most beloved kitchen brands in the country.

Wonderbelly set out to disrupt the antacid category and recently did exactly that, with an acquisition by Procter & Gamble. Roam built a luggage brand from scratch that could stand alongside the best in the world. We were there at the start of all of them.

Alongside those startup stories, we've spent nearly three decades working with some of the most recognized companies in consumer products — IKEA, Tumi, Unilever, Henkel, among them. That combination of early-stage founder work and global brand experience is rare, and it's exactly what informs how Prime Strategy thinks. We know what a winning product looks like at concept stage because we've helped build enough of them to recognize the difference between an idea that has real legs and one that needs more work before design begins.

That's the perspective we bring to every Prime Strategy engagement — nearly thirty years of category experience, distilled into the focused, decisive strategic work that happens before a designer ever opens a file.

SERVICES

Our three core offerings

Our three core offerings are deliberately structured to deliver a specific outcome, in a defined timeframe, at a price you know upfront.

Fixed fees mean there are no surprises. Each offering is built around a clear handoff point — the moment when strategy is done and execution can begin with confidence.

Fixed scope means you know exactly what you're buying.

We don't extend engagements for the sake of it, and we don't pad deliverables with work that looks impressive but doesn't move the needle. You get what you need to make better decisions, and nothing you don't.

TIMELINE

WHAT YOU GET

  • Market positioning brief

  • Value proposition Competitive landscape snapshot

  • Development roadmap

  • Funding and timeline guidance

INVESTMENT

$9,500

For founders with little prior product development experience who are ready to start building, but not yet sure exactly how to go about it.

Launching a physical product for the first time is harder than it looks — not because the idea isn't strong, but because the path from idea to shelf is longer, more expensive, and more complex than most people expect. The Founder Sprint is designed for entrepreneurs who have a concept they believe in but need experienced guidance before committing serious capital to development.

Over three focused weeks, we work with you to pressure-test your idea against the real market, define who your customer actually is, and articulate the one thing your product needs to do better than anything else in its category. We'll map out what the development process realistically looks like — from initial design through prototyping, manufacturing, and launch — and give you an honest picture of the funding you'll need at each stage to get there.

You'll leave with a market positioning brief, a clear value proposition, and a realistic development roadmap that you can use to align your team, brief a design partner, or walk into an investor conversation with confidence. If the next step is Prime Studio, we'll hand off directly. If it isn't, you'll have everything you need to find the right partner and hit the ground running.

If none of our three core offerings fit where you are, we'll build something that does.

We understand that not every brand arrives at strategy with a neat set of needs.

In those cases, we'll scope a custom strategy engagement around what you actually need. We'll start with a straightforward discovery conversation to understand the challenge, the stage you're at, and the decisions you're trying to make. From there, we'll put together a clear project plan — defined scope, defined deliverables, defined timeline, and a fixed fee — so you still get the cost predictability of our core offerings, just built around your specific situation rather than a standard one. Custom doesn't mean open-ended. It means we did the work to define the right scope before asking you to commit to it.
