Ollie
OVERVIEW
Ollie is a premium pet food brand known for delivering fresh, human-grade meals directly to dog owners. As the brand looked to expand beyond DTC and into retail, they needed a clear strategic foundation to navigate a new category on a new playing field. Prime Strategy was brought in early to build exactly that — carving an actionable path to packaging that could work across both DTC and retail configurations.
WHAT WE DID
Competitive Analysis
Packaging Architecture

We started with a thorough category audit — analyzing where leading and emerging pet food brands were playing in retail, how they were positioning themselves, and what visual and messaging codes were benefit driven versus more pretentious. A key part of the challenge was understanding how to translate Ollie's existing DTC brand equities to a competitive shelf environment — one dominated by uniform bag formats — and identify how Ollie could break through it.

From there we looked closely at Ollie's current packaging architecture, assessing how well it would translate to a shelf environment, and explored competitors' hierarchy and graphic elements in detail. The goal was to give the brand a clear picture of the landscape before making any moves — so that when Ollie stepped into retail for the first time, they did it with intention and set the right tone for every expansion that followed.
