OVERVIEW
Saveur is a well-respected print and online magazine founded in 1994. World class cookware manufacturers Winnington Metal acquired the license to manufacture Saveur cookware in 2019 and came to Prime Studio to figure out how to translate a traditional magazine into a cookware line.
A timeless Classic
The decision was made early on in the project to develop a tri-ply stainless steel line and an enameled cast iron line concurrently. This decision presented both opportunities and created obstacles to overcome because the two manufacturing processes are so different.
First we leaned into the opportunities presented by ground up product development and developed pan sizes that could share lids (too many lids are always a customer pain point) across both pan styles (i.e skillet and stockpot) but also between the stainless and cast iron lines.
For our aesthetic inspiration we decided not to look at other cookware but instead at the environment that the cookware would be used in so our inspiration for the handles on the pans came from traditional kitchen cabinetry. This signature handle became the element we used to unite the two lines.
The Saveur Selects cookware was so well received we followed it up with a third line of Nitri-Black carbon steel cookware.
