OVERVIEW
Built is a retail company that designs innovative products inspired by the city, and this project was no exception. They came to us to develop a hydration collection built on real material honesty, something that stood apart from mass hydration economics, inspired by the High Line park in New York City. The goal was to be as authentic and genuine as possible, using materials and textures not typically found in mass market hydration products, and to design the future family from the very start.
Building the Highline Family
After lots of brainstorming and moodboard inspiration, we moved into development. We thought through how each piece needed to perform in real life, easy to clean, leak proof, sized to fit in a car cup holder, and comfortable to carry by hand. That led us into exploring docking systems, handle designs, and opening mechanisms in depth, testing different approaches until they felt effortless to use.
From there we explored a range of patterns and CMF options, working through color, material, and finish combinations until the family started to feel cohesive.
Built launched the Highline Hydration Collection at the Inspired Home Show in Chicago in 2025.
