OVERVIEW

WILL PERFORM was born out of a desire to provide best in class performance recovery for everyone from top athletes to the everyday active. The company was co-founded by Serena Williams, Eric Ryan and Hank Mercier; they identified an opportunity to rethink a category that had not seen meaningful innovation for some time. In order to build this innovative brand from the ground up, they came to Prime Studio and our long-time collaborators, Mythology, to bring all of the Co-Founders' vision to life.

Introducing Performance Care

WILL PERFORM was created out of the concept of “Performance Care”. Efficacy first solutions for the everyday active’s life. This new category of bodycare products is meant to both enhance performance in life as well as at the gym. Great athletic performance may happen on the field, but it’s only made possible by what you do before and after. After all, as the brand says “There is no Charge without Recharge”™ 


Our brief was to develop the structural packaging that would help active users build an effective daily performance routine so they can be their best - both on and off the field, so we were tasked with developing a design language that felt appropriate both at the gym, and in the medicine cabinet. 


This project was another collaboration between the Prime Studio and Mythology teams (we’ve previously worked together on the Harry’s, Welly and Cast brands) and the work of each studio informed and pushed the work of the other. 


From the onset of the project we took a look at designing the brand and packaging through the lens of the modern active user, in order to create a product that fits into their bodycare regimen. To echo the ideals of the brand we wanted to create packaging that inspires and motivates people to stay active and stay healthy. Not just a problem-solving product, but a lifestyle accessory. And one of our major considerations was to create a design language that could flex across multiple types of products and formulations and applications to give the brand a strong foundation for future expansion.


We worked alongside the WILL PERFORM team on the Design for Manufacturing and production of the packaging. Because the design was so heavily influenced by how it was made, we took on a key role in overseeing some of the critical design decisions and as a part of this process we continually tried to combine a mix of stock parts and custom parts to come up with economical solutions.
