OVERVIEW

Natural Patch is an Australian-based brand that makes everyday wellness simple and safe, with a focus on kids, but formulated for the whole family, including pets, covering everything from bug protection to sun care to bedtime, all without the harsh ingredients found in most products on the shelf. We started working with the NatPat team on rethinking the packaging across seven core SKUs, and the partnership grew from there, expanding into the graphic system for their sticker packaging and designing the spray bottle repellent.

A Better Kind of Sticker

What drew us to this project from the start was the product itself. The stickers are made from biodegradable bamboo, carry a proprietary blend of essential oils, and offer protection without any chemicals, a rare combination in a category crowded with sprays and lotions. It gave us a strong foundation to design around. From the start, we were balancing a few things at once: brand elevation, affordable COGS, user experience, and retail presence. To ground that thinking in something real, we ran a customer survey looking at how many stickers people were using, how satisfied they were with the current packaging, and how they were storing it at home.

That survey became our starting point for exploring different product formats for the stickers, single row, multi row, and other layouts, weighing the pros and cons of each against cost, shelf presence, and ease of use.

We then moved into initial concepts, a wide range of directions organized as good, better, and best options, considering material, interactivity, lifespan, and other factors that would shape the final design.

With a direction chosen, we built prototypes internally while working closely with vendors on feasibility. From there, we assisted NatPat with sourcing and qualifying the right vendors.

From there, the scope grew into developing a comprehensive packaging system design to strengthen brand identity, enhance product visibility, and improve the shopping experience for customers. The key goal was a cohesive, scalable system that could communicate both the product and NatPat's natural formulations clearly, while leaving room for a growing product portfolio. We worked within their existing branding, fonts, and characters, building the system to feel like a natural extension of the brand rather than a departure from it.

Two years into a strong run of sales in Target's outdoor section, Natpat caught the attention of a buyer looking to bring their natural insect repellent stickers into a new department. That opportunity brought Natpat back to us to design a fun, functional spray bottle.

The redesigned packaging and spray bottle hit Target shelves nationwide, marking NatPat's continued expansion across the wider family wellness category, an achievement later recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The brand has grown well beyond that first launch, today selling in 32 countries with a customer base spanning the U.S, Canada, Australia, and the U.K., alongside a retail partnership with Target that's continued to grow over the past three years.
