OVERVIEW
Lido approached us to design a backpack beach chair aimed at enhancing comfort and convenience for beachgoers. Our goal was to create a chair with improved ergonomics and a host of user-friendly features, including a fully insulated cooler, an integrated wet pocket, lightweight portability, and ease of use with simple open and fold mechanisms.
Kick back and relax
Our comprehensive design process encompassed exploring different frame and folding geometries which we tested using scale mockups and eventually full-size working prototypes. We also developed the tech-packs for all of the soft-goods components of the chair and again tested with prototypes and mockups constructed by Heather Stuart of Cross Creative, our go-to soft-goods consultant. Finally, we explored a wide variety of CMF options to capture the classic nautical feeling that Lido was looking for.
