Where are they now? Evan Stuart

Evan was always a bit of as talker (like all good Irish lads) but it turns out he’s also a bit of a writer ! Here’s what he had to say about his career since graduating from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2018.

"How time flies.

It feels like only yesterday that I walked into Prime Studio for the very first time. Wide eyed and captivated by the charm of a small, tight knit team. I had just flown from Cincinnati OH to visit the Prime team in the hopes of understanding if I could fit in at the studio (on the off-chance I could land my next internship with Prime for the summer season). I was nervous but excited.

“Evan!” called Stuart from across the room, beaming while he walked over to greet me as I entered the studio.

“Yep. Here feels good” I thought to myself as I left an hour later.

In such a short timeframe, my internship at Prime Studio in Summer 2019 taught me so much. Without question, I made many embarrassing mistakes, but it was through these mistakes that I truly began to understand how a design agency operates, and the incredible impact a small group can have on the success of a new startup or established brand. I count myself lucky to have been surrounded by a team with such talent and depth of experience. I feel privileged to have been taught by Stuart. His patience and guidance throughout my time at the studio was a blessing, and to this day I consider him a mentor.

Since leaving Prime Studio, I have had an exciting and incredibly fulfilling career so far. I finished my year-long internship visa in the US with a final internship in Boston and returned to Ireland where I almost immediately began a 2-year period at the incredible design and innovation agency - Design Partners. Design Partners’ list of stunning clients and partners told me how special a studio it was. Companies like Logitech, Beyer Dynamic, Cricut, Jameson and Dell Alienware all trust Design Partners to deliver world class design work. I knew I would learn a lot of great things here!

My first week into my new job however, the unthinkable happened. A worldwide, once in a generation pandemic event. I was forced to adapt to an entirely new way of working, without having properly met my team, understanding how they work, or even how to collaborate virtually. Thankfully, we figured it out! Once again, there were many mistakes made and lessons learned. During my time at Design P

artners, I was privileged to hone my craft and learn new skills from the incredible design group. I quickly gravitated towards the folks who taught me advanced 3D Modeling, high fidelity foam sculpting and I even found a niche as the Visualisation Specialist creating case study and marketing visuals for the studio. Some of which can be found below!. My horizons expanded even further throughout my time at Design Partners, as I began to get a taste for designing high performance gaming mice & accessories, audio products & headphones or smart home security systems for some of the most well-respected companies in the world. My time at Design Partners was a non stop journey of learning and skill building, but when an opportunity arose to return to the USA in 2022, I couldn't resist!

In early 2022, I joined the world class group of designers at Aruliden in the NYC office. As an international designer, I worked remotely for a few months while waiting for my new work visa to be approved and by the middle of the year, I was back in NYC where I am currently based. A true full circle moment. While I can’t say too much about my current day to day role at the studio, luckily, a lot of great things are happening behind the scenes here at Aruliden. Each day is a new day of learning, overcoming challenges and collaborating with incredible clients to create the products of tomorrow. Aruliden is perhaps most known for the incredible partnerships with clients such as Whoop, Verizon and Google in the tech sector. While it’s early days in my career still, things feel like they have fallen into place and I’m proud of my journey since leaving the people at Prime Studio!

When I’m not working, I enjoy creating side projects and experimenting with new ideas. Sometimes I’ll just start by taking things apart and seeing where it leads me, or I’ll build out full CGI & Modelling projects to learn something new. Otherwise, I can often be found on a tennis court somewhere or out on a hike with a camera.

Shoutout to the wonderful people at Prime Studio. While my time there was short, it made a lasting impression on me for sure!

Evan"
