The NYC Journal And the journey begins!
New York City in 3 words - Fast! Fast! Fast! The subway, the people, the signals, the vehicles, everything is just so fast. Movement is in the air.
Everyday is an adventure here. Starting from the morning when I take the subway from Bay Ridge to Port Authority Bus Terminal, it has been two weeks now but I still walk out every morning from a different exit of PABT getting baffled. But it is fun getting lost with people and being dragged into the spirit of heading to work at 9.00 am in the morning.
Prime - The name is so perfect. The studio is indeed located at a prime location in the heart of Manhattan. It’s a small cozy studio with so many things happening everyday. Being a small studio I get an opportunity to be involved with more projects. I am working on a survey currently. Sounds easy! But Stuart says we need to find the right way to tease questions and learn about the answers from the users.
On my first weekend of exploring the city I went to the Birch Cafe to meet a long lost friend after 16 years. The cafe is so rustic and warm. It’s compelling how they have only one long processed wood table in the main area. They believe that one common seating encourages people to talk and create memories. I sat there with my friend sipping over an Iced Latte with some granulated sugar adding texture to it, summarizing our past 16 years and then making plans for the next weekend.
I also visited the MAD - Museum of Art and Design and this was an energizer to my hectic week. They had a clay sculpture making workshop. A vibrant volunteer walked up to me to explain the moulding method. Playing with clay and seeing it take shape is so soothing to the mind and I left on a very calm note.
Today is Friday and this is a beginning to another week full of exciting things to do. Will get back with more. Stay tuned!
