We’re very happy to report that Katrin Lins de Albuquerque has rejoined the Prime Studio team. Katrin was an intern here during her last year at Parson’s back in 2007. Since then she has gained a wealth of experience working at Martha Stewart Omnimedia and during a 4 year stint at the Johnson & Johnson Global Strategic design office. We’re thrilled to have her back.
And because she’s half Swedish and half Brazilian that brings the number of different Nationalities here in the office up to 6 – American, English, German, Israeli, Swedish & Brazilian. It’s starting to feel like the United Nations in the studio.
We’re thrilled to welcome Inbal Aderka to the Prime Studio team. Inbal studied at the Holon Institute of Technology in Tel Aviv and most recently has been working as the lead UX designer for interactive video producer Interlude. We’re very happy she decided to join us here at Prime.
So today’s was Am’s last day and we’ll be really, really sorry to see her go. She’s been a great intern and was at our office during a really busy spell so she got work on lots of different projects. Her skill set and enthusiasm was top-notch and we wish her the best of luck for her final year at school.
A big, hearty Prime Studio welcome to Am Saiyavath, a Senior from Carnegie Mellon. Am will be with us for the Summer and she arrived at the perfect time because we’re really, really busy.
A hearty Prime Studio welcome to Paloma, our new intern from Chile, who’s spending a month with us this Spring.
I wanted to give a shout-out to a new design firm, Polygraph, thats just opened in Washington DC. Their website just went live today (and very nicely laid out it is too). The reason I wanted to mention them is that Lindsay Krembs Mannix is one of the founding partners and, for those of you who know a little bit of Prime Studio history, you may remember that Lindsay worked with us for around 5 years before heading off to Europe.
Best of luck to her, Jason and Gavin and I look forward to seeing some great work come out of their Studio.
I was very honored to be asked to write part of a foreword for a new book called, yes you guessed, “The new wave of Japanese Illustration” by my friend Cristian Campos in Barcelona. To be honest I was a little bit surprised as it’s not an area I profess to know much about but it was really inspirational to do research on all of the artists. In fact I tracked down one guy who’s work I loved, Kosuke Ikeda, and actually got to meet with him when I visited Kyoto a little while ago. That’s his work above by the way – all done with gel pens.
Anyway the book is now published (unfortunately at the minute only in French, Spanish and Italian editions) and it looks great. Cristian did a great job compiling and editing it. Some of the pages can be seen on his website.
Say Hi to Jenna, the newest member of the Prime Studio team. She’s a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati but even though she’s just starting out on her career she brings a lot of valuable experience through her internships at Astro Studios, PfeifferLab, Speck Products and Priority Designs. We have a feeling she’s going to be a great addition to the office.
The results for this years Dollar redesign competition, the brainchild of our friend Richard Smith, have just been announced. There’s some nice work there and it’s well worth checking out.
