I’m sure Eric won’t mind me saying that he was one of our most mature interns. He’d already run his own business, a design and construction consultancy in San Francisco, for a few years before he decided to enroll in the Master’s degree course in ID at Pratt.
It was during his time at Pratt that he interned at Prime and he was a real boon to have in the office. He’ll be the first to tell you he was still honing his ID skills at that point but his past experience and desire to learn made him invaluable. He’s had an interesting career path since he graduated from Pratt – along with procreating on a regular basis. After the break read what he’s been up to.
“After completing my internship with Prime in the summer of 2002, I returned to Pratt to finish my coursework and Master’s thesis. I began teaching at Pratt Interior Design from 2003-2006. During this period I also started my own business, ESK Design, focusing on space planning, interior and exterior architecture, custom furniture design and landscaping, among other things. My family moved from Brooklyn to Cambridge, MA, in spring 2006, where I have continued to focus on design and build in a broad range of different projects.
In 2009, I became certified as a LEED AP and received an unrestricted contractors license with the goal of providing my clients with a turn-key design through move-in experience, focusing on application of green materials and technologies.
I hope to launch a web site myself this year to share some of my work and engage in a broader design dialogue.”
