Via DesignBoom here’s a new airbag helmet for cyclists from Swedish company hövding sverige ab. Supposedly the collar type design is a more fashionable alternative than a regular helmet – well the model above certainly seems more concerned about her look in that dress than practical bike clothing. Without seeing one in person it’s hard to comment on it’s practicality but what I did find really disturbing was the video of all the testing they did with crash test dummies. For someone who rides a lot in New York City traffic it’s painful just to watch it.
Came across this pics from a recent Russian fashion show by Yegor Zaitsev. Wacky but kinda cool too (though not too handy for a crowded NYC subway). You can view the rest of the collection through this link.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I’ve been writing a lot of posts recently about the World Cup (for obvious reasons) so I thought perhaps a change of theme was called for. So I decided to write about the amazing shoes created by Martha Davis in San Francisco. Martha originally worked as an Industrial designer (full disclosure – we worked together at her company Able Design back in the 90’s) and you can see from her shoes that she approaches her footwear from an almost sculptural point of view.
Not only do I love her designs I think it’s really inspiring to see someone change careers to follow their passion.
Spotted these new World Cup edition Samba’s the other day, complete with little eyelet badge to show your country, so of course I had to have a pair. Perfect for Spring, never mind the World Cup in June. The eyelet badge is a nifty way for adidas to customize them without having to make lots of different colorways (the red, blue and white ones here work for England, France and Russia). Read more…
