I had an interesting meeting with a bloke called Wyn Jones last week. He’s a lecturer and post-graduate student in Industrial Design at The University of Newcastle, Australia. He’s researching the topic of design briefs provided by clients and asking the question should there be a more standard format ? It will be interesting to see where his studies net out.
In my opinion a well-crafted design brief is the cornerstone for a successful project but it’s amazing how much the quality of the briefs we receive varies. So much so that we even came up with our own document “10 pointers for a Design Brief” that we provide to potential clients to make sure we receive the information we need. I’ll post more information on his findings when he shares them.
