So back in the long, hot summer of 1998 just after we opened our doors, Dave Turner was Prime Studio’s very first intern. He came over from England where he was studying at Central St. Martins having never been to New York before. I’d only spoken to him on the phone once or twice so it was a bit like a blind date.

Luckily we got along really well and Dave made a big contribution to some of our initial projects. I remember him drawing a big complex exploded view of this product we designed called the FoodTool – all by hand ! After the break read what Dave’s been up to since then and check out some of his work in the slideshow above….

“Since leaving Prime in 1998, I returned to the UK and worked as a retail designer for Snow + Rock Sports, a ski, snowboard, and outdoor sports specialist where I managed a design team in the launch of 12 new sports stores nationally along with regular retail exhibits.

In 2004 we relocated to Washington DC and I joined Hargrove Inc. Specializing primarily in Exhibition, Event and Interior environments, projects have been diverse; President Obama’s Inauguration, American Architectural Foundation, Microsoft MGX and currently the forth coming FEI World Equestrian Games. My design work now regularly consists of three dimensional modeling, architectural interior modeling, lighting design and animation.

I truly enjoyed my time with Prime. Stuart proactively involved me within projects, at every stage, from initial client meet through conceptualizing down to final engineering.  Most memorable being the Zelco Food Tool. Eternally grateful for the opportunity and experience.  Fond memories,.. sushi, football and bizarre living quarters in the upper west side!”
